There’s something about the process of appointing a justice to the Supreme Court that brings out the very creepiest in our nation (as opposed to electing a non-white person or Democrat, heaven forfend both, which brings out the bat-shit crazy).

Personally, given that Ginsburg is the only person on the current Court who seems to get what a shaming experience a strip search is, maybe the “old boy” approach to Justice selection isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.

Added I know there’s more to it, and I know there are layers of sexism and racism and classism and all the lovely ways objectification allows us to rationalize treating other people like shit. I wish I could write more about it right now, but I’m barely staying awake.
