We got all kinds of stupid (and advice for the stupid) today!
This would be like me putting on blackface and attenting a gathering mermorializing MLK Jr.
The Daily Caller’s Jim Treacher (called the DC Trawler), has the latest version of the Right’s “NUH-UH, YOU’RE THE BIGGER POOPY-HEAD!” and manages to wrap it up with a fresh side of cultural myopia.
You know the powers-that-be are being stupid when the editorial board of a pillar of the financial press prints writes a piece calling for raising the minimum wage. Can I get a “Ramen” from you Pastafarians out there?
Girls going to school are apparently still considered a legitimate terror target by unknown someones in Afghanistan. I hope someone washes away their evil with a sand blaster. Slowly. Starting at the toes.
How I think this went down: Guy who hates Mohammed Ashad: “Hey, Mohammed, check this out! Someone wants to give you free money!” Mohammed, whose reading ability is sketchy or who is stoned out of his mind: “Oh really? Cool! See y’all later!” GWHMA: “I always hated that dick.”
Fact #1: Governor Scott Walker’s campaign spokeswoman Ciara Matthews worked at Hooters at one point. Fact #2: Steven Elbow at The Captial Times (billed as “Your Progressive Voice”) writes a dickish article about Ciara Matthews having worked at Hooters. Check out what Dr. Melissa Clouthier has to say about it at her blog, and check out what Erin Gloria Ryan at Jezebel has to say (that is linked to disapprovingly by the good Dr.). Let’s just say I’m usually a touch suspicious of things posted at Jezebel, but not this time. Methinks Dr. Clouthier protests waaaay too goddamn much, perhaps in the service of disguising what the criticisms of Ciara Matthews actually are.
Not to mention that Dr. Clouthier then goes on in the same post to lament the horrible treatment of Ann Romney, even while mischaracterizing the criticism Rosen made of her. Fact #3: Yes, we all know that Bill Maher is indeed a dick. Nevertheless, the criticism still stands (read carefully), Mitt Romney still wants single mothers to work, four part-time housekeepers is four more than most people, male or female, have in this country.
Someone in trying to justify Romney’s position on single mothers working from Romney’s point of view manages to come to the (perhaps unconscious realization) that Romney feels families in America should be considered as isolated economic units, rather than as belonging to a larger structure. Interesting, and definitely creepy.
Lastly, in the densest cluster of crap political reporting I’ve seen this week, Stephen Dinan gets everything wrong about the budget process, why there have been budget problems for three years running, the fact that the Erskine-Bowles commission didn’t release a report (only the co-chairs did), and everything else having to do with money and/or politics mentioned in this turd of an article. Seriously, if this was the one piece of writing I had to judge this guy on? I’d say he is too dumb to be trusted with sharpened sticks of warm butter.
Have a good day.
